Class of 2011

Ron Holtsford - Ron Holtsford was born Oct 1946 in Onslow County.  He served in the United States Navy from 1966 to 1970. He was an active reserve from 1971 to 1995 retiring as a Chief.  He attended Coastal Carolina Community College from 1971-1973 where he played Baseball and Basketball. From 1973 to 1975 he attended Pembroke State University and played soccer in 1974 and 1975. In 2000 Ron was promoted to Athletic Director where he is responsible for the school’s 29 athletic programs, the maintenance of 20 school facilities and grounds, calendar of events, transportation for all sport teams, rental of facilities and grounds and is the school’s 1st Responder.  Ron was honored as Coach of the Year in 1989 by the North Carolina Soccer Coaches Association.  He was also recognized by the North Carolina Soccer Coaches Association with the Regional Coach of the Year in 1989, 1994, 1996 and 1997. Ron was honored as All-Area Coach in 1982 and 1989 as well as Mid-East 4A Coach of the Year in 1982, 1987 and 1989.  He was selected in 1991 as Coach for the East-West All-Star Game. He received the Administrator of the Year Award from the North Carolina Soccer Coaches Association in 2007-08.


Edward Colson - Edward “Eddie” Colson was born August 28, 1963 in Onslow County.  He attended Jacksonville High School from 1978-1981 and the University of North Carolina from
1981-1985. He was a first round draft choice of the Baltimore Stars of the United States Football League, but signed with the Cleveland Browns of the National Football League. He was selected Onslow County Co-Player of the year in his Junior year. During his Senior year he was Player of the Year, gaining 1,184 yards during the regular season and another 624 yards during the playoffs.  He scored 19 touchdowns and led the team to the State 4-A Championship game against Greensboro Page. He was selected to play in the North Carolina – South Carolina Shrine Bowl Game and was selected on the All-Conference, All-East and All-State 4-A team. He was a National Honor Society Student and had the size, speed, versatility and consistency that Major Universities wanted in football players.  The University of North Carolina offered Eddie a full scholarship to play football to attend the University as a Student Athlete.  While at UNC he was one of only three fullbacks to catch 20 passes during a season.  In 1983 he was part of UNC football history when he carried the ball for 100 yards, the only time in the UNC football history that three running backs gained at least 100 yards in a single game. After his playing days, he returned to North Carolina to live a life of service and accepted a job to work for the North Carolina Memorial Hospital in Chapel Hill.
