Chuck Canady was a standout in baseball, football and basketball while attending White Oak High School from 1976-1979.  He earned numerous all-conference honors in all three sports during that time.   On the diamond, he helped lead his team to two NCHSAA State Baseball Championships and three championship game appearances from 1976 to 1979.  Canady went on to become a two sport standout at NC State University earning numerous honors in both football and baseball for the Wolfpack.  On the diamond; he was named to the All-ACC team in 1979, 1980, and 1981; in 1981 Canady was named to the preseason all-america team and earned all region honors for a team that went on to win the ACC Championship.  On the gridiron, he played for the 1979 ACC Champions.  At the conclusion of his stellar collegiate career, the outfielder was selected 30th overall in the 1981 Major League Baseball Draft by the Texas Rangers.  Canady spent the 1982 season playing for the A Burlington, IA franchise, then spent the 1983 season with the AA Tulsa, OK franchise where he hit 25 home runs which is tied for 9th all time in franchise history and 1984 was spent in Oklahoma City, OK with the AAA franchise.  Canady played on the 40 man roster of the Texas Rangers in both 1984 and 1985.
